TESTIMONIAL FEB 8TH 2012
Garth,
Big sailing day for one of your students today.
I have a long time friend who is a life long sailor, and avid racer. Apparently he must believe I learned a few things about sailing from you and the US Sailing curriculum, for him to trust me with his 32 foot sailboat.
We sailed together last weekend and yesterday. We CLEANED for 4 hours yesterday, making the vessel “ship shape”! But today , I single handed for 6 hours. Motored in and out of the slip, and in and out of the fuel dock. The morning offered light wind to sail wing onwing up the Neuse River (basically an extension of the Pamlico Sound, about 1-3miles wide) with the wind over my stern, for nearly 3 hours, and then a cloud front passed , the wind shifted, and the return to the marina was only 1 hour on a broad reach. Getting the mainsail down, was a little frustrating, as she would not stay headed into the wind on her own, even with the helm locked.
It was almost as perfect, as the day in St.Maarten when you “instructed” our small class/crew to sail completely around the island. I am so grateful for you and Iain's role in moving me from a sailing "wanna be" to the next level.
